Important: As of 09/25/2015, the Jaffrey cider press had actually been discontinued. All parts will be kept in stock for repairs and warranty fixes. It has been superseded by the Homesteader cider press which we recommend in its place; the Homesteader is more substantial, better looking and slightly cheaper to boot! It's time to make use of all those apples. Fresh, pure and incredibly tasty cider awaits and this Jaffrey apple press is the ideal tool for the job. Spend an Autumn afternoon with someone special, taking turns pressing apples to your hearts content. It's fun, satisfying and the end product is so worth it. Yum.
The Jaffrey cider press is a complete press with everything you need to start making your own juice and cider, including an apple grinder that crushes the apples right into the pressing tub. This is the big daddy of the Jaffrey 8400 wine press as it includes the high quality Jaffrey apple grinder, a neccesity for turning large quantities of apples to pulp. No need to slice or peel them; throw them in whole and see just how fast it gets the job done!
The 8400 model features a heavy-duty pressing screw with Acme thread, allowing for maximum pressure from the least amount of effort on your part. With a 1" diameter and four threads per inch, this screw can be rotated easily and quickly. So keep turning and turning; see just how tight it can go and how much juice is really in all that fruit.
The included apple grinder attaches directly to the frame of the press. It houses a hardwood drum studded with eight rows of stainless steel teeth inside the hopper and makes light work of any hard fruit. A perfectly balanced heavy cast-iron flywheel with a hardwood handle rotates the drum mounted on the steel shaft, allowing for smooth, easy grinding. (The grinder can easily be removed from the press and mounted on a sawhorse or other support in order to allow grinding and pressing to happen at the same time.)
The decent size pressing tub is banded with steel and will hold roughly one bushel of pulp when full. Pile in the fruit, inside one of our pressing bags, then place on the pressing blocks and get turning. A pressing bag will make your life easier by keeping the fruit skins, stems and pulp separate from your lovely fresh juice.
The 8400 press frame, uprights and tub are made of solid Maple wood. This wood of choice along with the wide-stance leg design makes for superb stability under the grinding and pressing action. This press will really feel solid throughout your entire cider production. In order to keep the wood in top condition, and generally make it suitable for coming in contact with edible produce, it is recommended that you apply some sort of protective coating: Poxycoat, varnish, lacquer or mineral oil are suitable (see our selection of protective coatings).
The top it off, the Jaffrey 8400 also includes a sliding collection tray at the bottom of the tub with a juice drain. Have your fresh cider pour neatly into a waiting pail below.
The Jaffrey cider press will provide you endless enjoyment and satisfaction. It's a smaller press compared to the likes of the American Harvester making it ideal for many households. Get a group involved with a "pressing party": friends, neigbors, children... they'll all want a go with the 8400.
Want to automate the grinding process? Consider the Jaffrey 8400 motor kit.
*One Year Warranty*: For 1 year from the date of purchase, this Jaffrey press is covered by a full warranty. The Manufacturer promises to repair or replace it free of charge if needed during this time period, or offer a refund, less any freight charges.

We've just invested in the Jaffrey 8400 and we're very pleased so far. It was pretty easy to assemble and has a very high quality feel to it. We're getting closer to apple season now so hopefully this press will get a lot of use! It certainly looks promising and we can't wait to try it out.
